Give us an overview of your project
here: Lilly Pritchard (bass/vocals), Jesse Freidin (drums)
not here: Daniel Lemke (guitar),
9 months before Jesse was brought on.
mixed bag of post-punk & post-rock
Where did the project name originate?
Yoda speak?? not so much
took a while to pick name
MacBeth quote...sorta
what will happen will happen
Lilly is a dog trainer! And Jesse is dog photographer.
Does the dogginess influence the music?
Perhaps unconsciously!
What are your ambitions for the project?
Local scene is cool, but not shying away from larger ambitions.
Where do you see yourself in 5 year? ;)
in the immediate future they are touring with Broken Cities!
What drew you to Creative Commons?
Broken Cities was a big influence on the decision.
Why do you use the the license you use?
Community of art-markers is important.
Formerly part of hardcore DIY scene.
If you are too locked down, it is a disservice to yourself and the community.
What about CC and photography?

Attribution is about respecting the artist
What’s up with the Bay Area thing?
affinity for east coasters
west coasties have no ambition! (exaggerated for tabloid affect!)
lots of interesting questions out west
What is the Creative Commons culture like in the Bay Area, the home of Creative Commons? (Broken Cities, Emcee Lynx, Severed Fifth, etc.)
mixed in music, but those kinds of ideas are strong
move to New York if you want to press vinyl!
startups are all about sharing
What are your other projects, if any?
Lilly does some poetry and creative writing for ...has a background in painting and drawing, but doesn’t do it that often. She has a dream that one day she can do it again.
Is the tour with Broken Cities your first tour?
It is. Late June.

On Bandcamp you use the tag “queer,” how does that influence the music?
Perhaps some unconscious content, but obviously lyrically too.
conflict is not necessarily required for art...or is it?
What are some of your favorite bands/artists/genres, CC or otherwise?
Jesse: post-rock to contemporary “bad rock”, Explosions in the Sky, Kings of Leon, like the orchestral arrangements, Ratatat (view instrumental bands)
Lilly: sigur ros, God Sped You Black Emporer, Sonic Youth, DC hXc, Billy Holliday, hard bop, bebop, jazz, PJ Harvey, odd time signatures, visceral, soulful stuff, local bands, Ver (sp?), good lyrics
streamable vs. downloadable?
