What is your role at Creative Commons?
Global Network Manager, which means...
70 official affiliates
several unofficial affiliates
How did CC first go global?
been global almost sense the beginning
year and a half ago the affiliate network became official
Jessica has been involved with CC since 2006.
Can you tell us about the Affiliate Network?
arguably one of the most important aspects of CC!
If not for affiliates, might just be for lawyers! That would be terrible!
affiliates help steer the license porting
What about the porting?
You always have the option of unported
Obviously moral rights is a big one, but are there any difficulties you face with a global network?
Legal team runs the license porting...not the affiliates
moral rights mostly “put to bed” with 3.0 license
Since 3.0, database rights have become a big issue
Flickr is using 2.0!
1.0 still similar to 4.0! (but they really encourage 2.0 onward)
What should we be looking for in CC 4.0?
databases biggest deal...
but more interestingly...
changes to attribution part
linking to something is ok attribution
formatting simplified
“fixing period” ← has better name she says
Source Work URL stuff in license maker.
Before we move away from 4.0, want to ask one more thing about 4.0 release
Early in 2013...probably with the first few weeks
