Rosie and Will Strong
Work in Newcastle in England!

Basic and Pixel are both housed in Tyneside Cinema

Over 500 hours! 1st 2.5 weeks are programmed, but left some space for new stuff

How did you pick the things you picked?
ccmixter ← they suggested us!

Finale is a 24-hour live broadcast!

What was the opening like on the 1st?
online started at midnight

5PM British there was a “grand opening”

“relaxed” is the wrong word, but went as hoped.

exhibition space now has radio booth!
Another Will helps out with building stuff!

How are you streaming?
technical assistance from basic and tyne.
They use icecast! http://www.icecast.org/

keep it honest...not quite raw

“not pixie magic”

How much local stuff are you playing?
CCHits (one of our interviews they are playing) is local in that it is English.

24-hour show will have some local stuff

some people from London

Some open mic stuff, but with video

flying saucer

people from all over the world!

Other than the obvious, where did the “Reuse Aloud” project name originate?
“allowed”

When you put out a call, you almost forget where they are from. Everyone is a collective online.

sometimes geography is cool, but it’s secondary.

Good opines about the size of England.

Manchester is “the capital of the north”
Newcastle is “the capital of the northeast”

Asking about using Creative Commons?
partly politeness, but it also helps build community through a sense of inclusion.

What are your other projects, if any?
First curation for Rosie.
Rosie does audio-visual

Will graduated from Newcastle University in 2009. (sounds like Rosie did in 2011)
Community Interest Organization.
65 active studios
2 project spaces (well, will be)

Are the audio-visual works released under CC?
Video is not downloaded on vimeo.
Soundcloud stuff is downloaded!

Separate video and separate audio are the starts of projects

How can people get involved the rest of the month? That is, do you need additional help?
hoping people will be involved. If you want to be involved, contact them!
12 noon to 3am next day is main program
Morning mixes are a bit different.
24-hour broadcast not fully programmed yet

rosie@basic.fm
will@basic.fm

Lots of netlabels are awesome!

Who are some people you think we should try to get on the show (aka, who are the important people in Creative Commons music today)?

Frank Nora -- podcasting since 2003
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Overnightscape ← chatty, raw podcast
There’s a collective of sorts

“hugely short” ← oxymoron
